A Little Ex Romance in Kuwait

I've agreed to go out to dinner tonight with my ex, Hayati. He called me yesterday and said in his adorable Kuwaiti accent that he's ready to compromise if that's what it takes to win me back.

I agreed to meet with him because it's my favorite restaurant in Kuwait ;) and I owe it to him. I'm not saying I'll get back with him again but I do still love him with all my heart.

I've felt anxious all day with butterflies in my tummy.

(Mom: No lectures please and thank you!)

    1. Hey Honey Bunny! Me too! It's hard to keep up with the blog much less visit my favorite blogs (like yours). And YES! Mom reads the blog and then WhatsApp me her approval or disapproval. LOL!

  2. Ana get butterflies in her stomach from Christian Grey also in Book 1 (50 Shades of Grey), just take care and listen to your inner voice if something just doesn't seem right. Have you read the divorce laws here? You will get nothing if the marriage fails and you would enter a cross-cultural marriage in a muslim country. You seem like a smart girl - just listen to your inner soul and most importantly don't ever render your soul in the name of love.

    1. I really need to get this book everyone keeps talking about. I keep forgetting to order from Amazon.

I appreciate your advice but thankfully money isn't a problem. The kids being stuck here if we ever divorced would be... That's a big risk and there are plenty of American women on the US camps that are still here because of their kids. I trust him 100% but they trusted their ex-husbands as well. None of us can predict the future.

Anyways, it was just another dinner since we broke up but this time he asked me if he could go home with me to meet my parents. Like actually fly their and stay at the house. He's ready to compromise because he said he cannot live without me anymore. He seems really sincere and honestly I feel the same way about him. It's been really hard since I left him. It's just with my family and the religious differences I don't see how he can really compromise. Time will tell if we get back together.

    2. good luck expat.

      in response to anon...

divorce law's here are 1000000x more fair than anywhere in the world- especially california where the wife gets 50% of her husbands $ even if she was a cheating golddigger.

in kuwait, if the man divorces the wife, she keeps what he gave her- i.e. gifts, dowry etc.

if the women divorces the man, she returns everything. fair no??

    5. 7amood ~ Did you delete your last comment? Or is Blogger playing tricks on me? :)

I was going to respond and say that my parents in the USA are still happily married. I hope that whoever I marry will be my soul mate forever and that we will never divorce. :)

  3. I am dying to hear how things went and what you're thinking about all this! When I first read about you and Hayati, I was so hoping things would work out! I can't imagine splitting from someone with whom you're so close...especially when you're in a country other than your own. (Even though Kuwait is a second home to you. But you know what I mean.) :)

Anyway, I hope everything went well, and those butterflies might be here to stay. :)

    1. Thanks for your support! :-) It went really well and I'm turning in my vacation request today for the USA. He's got his visa from before and is waiting on my vacation approval to buy our tickets. Thanks to your experience in United I asked him if we could go through Dubai. If I want champagne I'll have to sneak it in the bathroom because I don't want to do it in front of him. :p I'm not going to continue my job search outside Kuwait until I see how it works out. :)

    3. I don't know where you are from, my guess is Texas, but Emirates flies the A380 to New York (my favorite city) and I think they are flying directly to Houston. The A380 is a fabulous plane, I fly it whenever I can. I even just flew it to Bangkok. You've stated that with him money is no object, so you might as well fly the best airplane in the sky. Or do you fly United Airlines like your friend DG? Horrible.

    4. Texas? You guessed wrong! ;p The answer is in the right column towards the very bottom. :) Thanks for your suggestion and we will fly either Qatar, Emirates or Etihad. That's if I get approved for vacation. *fingers crosses*

    5. Ooo...how exciting! :) Wise woman to skip United. I've flown it to Kuwait once before, and Gabe flys it all the time, but this last time was such heck that it makes me think twice. Although, I can't say that I'd miiiind getting stuck in a nice DC hotel for two days while rekindling a romance. ;)

Fingers crossed your time off gets approved and you can jetset back home! Enjoy that champagne. ;)

  5. if you don't reconcile, publish his name, he sounds rich, accomodating, with good taste, capable of loving and compromising

    1. LOL! The compromising part remains to be seen. I want actions and not just words to try and get me back. If he can change my families mind then it's worth considering. He's pretty awesome but not perfect. :)
