Haha,As awkward as in kuwait !And hey long time, i've been reading your blog without really commenting ,things gotten a bit serious and emotional in your blog :P
TisMe...this blog is about my crazy life in Kuwait. Of course it can get serious and emotional sometimes. ;P If you have some topics you would like me to post on please shoot me an email dear. :)
good catch!! :Dthe first 2 mins in particular exemplify how some sheep act- especially when they say to the girl ' you are the most beautiful ..etc'.. and the poor girl doesnt know that he says this to every girl with a pulse!
I'm glad you like it! :) Thanks!
Well, before I came to Kuwait, I had met many Kuwaitis who visited my home who told me all these stories about how progressive their country was, especially how modern their women were and when I got here I truly went into shock. I looked around at all these black veiled women and thought to myself, well I had nuns growing up Catholic, I can deal with this and then I found out that many of these women were as mean as some of my nuns (who honestly I loved and admired). And then the predators, all these men who stalked their prey (women any shape or form), some not sure they were stalking women, who appeared to see a woman for the first time and this country of Kuwait was truly revealed to me and everything that I heard about it before I came was all hogwash. And then the transgender group, I didn’t expect so many openly transgender people in Kuwait. You really don’t expect to be harassed this much in a muslim society like this, but worse than this is all the men who openly squat and defecate in public by the roadside. Really? You can’t find a toilet? If I see one more man pee in public (huff) you would think that this would be against the law – guess not? Bizarre society this Kuwait.
Well, I really like living in Kuwait. Of course there are good and bad people here just like everywhere else. There should be rest areas for families with bathrooms on the highways. That would really help all of us out! How about a 7Eleven or truck stop? I miss them from back home. :)
i have been living in kuwait for 24 years and I have never seen anyone defecate in public. Nor have I seen or met a transgender.in regards to the 'prey'. we have male stalkers, other countries have stripclubs and whorehouses!every country has its perverts.its all about who you hang out with, and where you hangout. like I said, I have never seen what you saw in kuwait.
My don't we live in a bubble! In today's Kuwait Times, the government of Kuwait is discussing the construction of a transgender rehab center. In addition, maybe you should read the newspaper more, because there is quite a flouishing brothel business going on currently in Kuwait. Apparently, I live in a different country than you, but I refuse to lie for them, I will tell the truth about everything that I see here. Lucky for you, you have never seen the multitude of people that I see defecating and peeing along the roads in Kuwait and I don't hang out with these people (what a bizarre statement that was). I wouldn't really call these Kuwaiti guys perverts, they just don't understand civil behaviour.
Anonymous above ~ I drive out to the desert often for my work and there aren't any bathrooms. I rarely see anyone going to the bathroom on the side of the road. If I do then they are usually truck drivers from other countries and not Kuwaitis. I have seen transvestites at several upscale restaurants and cafes. I've read about may illegal brothels and party flats in the Arab Times. I believe the transvestites are more of a human rights issue.
Come on readers...This post was supposed to be a humorous one about how some local guys chase almost every girl around. It's just for fun and not to insult anybody. I think everyone needs to chill...:p
Ugh..kuwait has to take the cake in the "perverts like no other" category! I've complained to the cops, to only have my civil id checked, cross questioned, and then was flirted with. :| And no, i am not talking abt kuwaitis..but the general male population here. *shudders*
What creeps me out here the most is some of the Western (mostly American) old dudes with Asian girls half their age or younger. (My favorite Desert Girl line, "BJ's for bacon". LOL!)I still can't get used to seeing that and it's everywhere. (I'm NOT saying ALL Western guys or Asian girls do this...!)
@ Anonymous 3:49 AM, 'm a Kuwaiti, born and raised, and I've never ever seen Kuwaitis defecate or relieve themselves in public. That's the funniest, yet weirdest thing I ever heard. FYI, don't mistake all residents of Kuwait as Kuwaitis. Also, most Westerners live in the southern part of Kuwait, bidouin areas, where abaya and relatively uncivil manners are the norm. Have you ever been to the urban areas and met hathar (urban) Kuwaitis. Chances of seeing abayas in the latter areas are as slim as seeing snow in Kuwait.
For the record Kuwait, read the post. I stated men defecating at the sides of roads, I did not say Kuwaitis. I fail to understand how this is allowed in a purportedly conservative muslim country. So chill, like expat said, it was not meant to be so serious but a funny aspect of this society that is not talked about. The transgender people that I saw were all Kuwaitis, one working at the immigration desk at the airport, that was amusing, what a great way to welcome guests to your country. He/She does not work there now, but your government understands there is an issue here that needs to be addressed, hopefully it will be with some understanding. These guys that prey on girls here gets old after awhile, especially when you don't welcome this type of attention. I do not have problems like this in the UAE, but that is a more civilized society. What is alarming, on a serious note, is the amount of women now that are being dragged into cars, kidnapped and raped in the desert. This is criminal behaviour. Many cases going unreported especially in the Asian community. Women being snatched from their husbands arms in Salmiya, ganged raped, on a large scale. A weak MOI is not to your advantage in Kuwait.
Well not sure if any of them were Kuwaitis peeing in public, but this Kuwaiti learned a lesson in London. (smile)http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9219388/Kuwaiti-official-tasered-after-urinating-on-Tony-Blairs-doorstep.html
LMAO!!! I just posted on this. Thanks for the link! :)
