Giveaway includes one unisex gift purchased from Louis Vuitton in Salhiya Complex, Kuwait.
Two Years ago on March 7th, 2010 I started this blog and began writing about living and working in Kuwait. I had no idea about blogging or what I was doing. I've made mistakes and messed up on several occasions. I'm a painter not a writer but I quickly fell in love with writing and my new blog.
Time has flown by and I've had so many amazing experiences thanks to Expat and the City. Over the past two years I've had several good friends join me along the way but most quickly lost interest. (Thanx to you know who & who. :P) Blogging takes a lot of dedication in Kuwait because most of us work or study too many hours. The Internet is painfully slow and your patience can wear thin.
The best part of having a blog here is the new friends I've made. I didn't get into blogging for any other reason than writing about my life so meeting wonderful people from Kuwait and around the world was just an unexpected bonus. I now proudly have many Kuwaiti friends that I cherish and love. I would never be able to say that if it weren't for Expat and the City.
There is nothing wrong with advertising, going to events or having sponsors on your blog. Some bloggers make a lot of money and I think that's great. I didn't expect to have so many readers (almost 600k page views) much less invites to all of these incredible events from Kuwaiti sponsors. Along with my fellow bloggers I've been invited to blogger dinners, sponsored events, movie premieres, car shows, celebrity meets, salons, spas, IMAX, the cinema, exhibits, launches, car races, Ramadan dinners, hotel openings, restaurant reviews, etc.
I remember when I first received a request for advertising on my blog I didn't know what to do. I emailed Mark from 248AM and he responded right away saying he was a fan of my blog. I thought, WTF? This popular blog knows I exist? That really made my day and he was super sweet and professional.
I also remember the first time Desert Girl on Kuwait (I'm her biggest blogger fan / stalker ;) commented on my blog. I was almost jumping up and down that she read my post. I just think so highly of her Majesty, the Blogger Queen of Kuwait. She helped inspire me and countless other bloggers to write about our experiences living in Kuwait.
Let me not forget to write about American Girl who is such an amazing writer and true humanitarian. I really look up to her and how she chooses to live her life. She is just lovely inside and out!
Then there is Zain telecom that just took me under their wing and never forced me to post anything. They made sure that even though I'm American I am invited to the coolest events in Kuwait. They never forget to make us bloggers feel special at every occasion and holiday you can think of. I use Zain for my telephone and Internet service. I pay just like everyone else and choose to use them because I personally feel they are the best in Kuwait. Thank you Zain! Muwaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Then there is my Kuwaiti blogger family! Just too many bloggers to list (His and Hers, Moody & Cheeky, Trying to Be Fahad, Pauline, 7ajiDude, Sunshine, Q8Stig aka Stiggy, BananaQ8, Desert Blvd (Vainglorious & Ambrosial), LadyB, NewBride, Just Noon, 965 Malls, Soor Avenue, Hello965, Pisces Chick World, B&D Kuwait, AMA Traveller, Jacqui, Journey Kitchen, Ladies Who Do Lunch in Kuwait, Crazy in Kuwait, The Grapevine, Musaed, etc.). I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! You are so wonderful to me and it makes my life in Kuwait so much brighter. Thank you for your acceptance and generosity. You mean the world to me!
I decided not to do a sponsored contest for the blog two year anniversary. I thought and thought about what to buy as a giveaway that would be unisex. I thought of the perfect gift from Louis Vuitton that both a girl and guy would appreciate and need. It is one item from LV and I hope the winner will like it. :)
The contest is simple. Follow @ExpatandtheCity on Instagram and Twitter to stay in touch with the contest updates and news. If you do not have Instagram / Twitter then just check back frequently with this blog for updates. :) Take a beautiful photograph of Kuwait that represents why a visitor would love coming to Kuwait and post it on instagram (not a requirement for those of you that do not have instagram). Tag me in your Instagram post @expatandthecity. Also email me the photograph as an attachment to expatandthecity.gmail.com so we can post it after the submission deadline. Write one or two sentences on why you took this photograph and how it represents your love for Kuwait.
(If you do not have Instagram or Twitter you can just email your picture you took to firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief explanation of why it represents your love for Kuwait.)
This giveaway is for residents of Kuwait only. Close friends (you know who you are), family and co-workers are not allowed to participate. You must be able to provide a name, telephone number, email and house address for Aramex delivery. Once the winner is announced you must contact me via email within 48 hours.
The contest starts now and you have until Friday, March 16th at 12 midnight. The winner will chosen by the three of us and several members of the US Military. I've created a panel of judges that way it's not just 'us' @ ExpatandtheCity to make it as fair as possible.
Thank you readers and bloggers for all of your support over the past two years. I hope you will participate in this contest and take the best photo of Kuwait to show your love and win.
